It’s Beginning To Look a Lot Like Deer Season

 

 

 

The heat and the humidity are high, the sweat stings the irritated remains of poison ivy from last week, and spider webs make for interesting displays of emotion as one tromps through the timber!  Why? Asks the sane person, wondering why someone would put themselves through the grimace of the late summer preparations.  Because it’s deer season!  Any red blooded, frozen toed guy, or gal, setting in a lofty position during November knows exactly why!  It’s that time of year hard work meets dreams of what may be in the upcoming months.  It’s no different here at Lil’ Toledo.  We’re growing more anxious all the time getting things prepared for our upcoming deer season!

 

 

 

Every time a SD card is pulled from a camera at one of our many locations, it feels like Christmas morning when you were a kid waiting to see what lies under the ninja turtle wrapping paper!  Of course, there are the disappointments of nothing here and there or just the occasional fork horned one and half year old coming in to tease the camera.  Kind of like tearing off the wrapping paper to find another pair of underwear and socks or an awful sweater that Aunt Rita made.  But every now and again, just like Ralphie got his Red Ryder carbine action 200 shot range model air rifle, we get something to get excited about on camera.  A sigh of relief that there is a shooter in the area quickly turns to anxiety of the never ending questions!  “Will he stay in the same pattern until season opens?”  “Why is he so nocturnal”  “He’s at the location late in the morning, is he bedding too close to slip into the stand?”  “Why hasn’t he showed up on camera the last few days?”  The list goes on and on.
